The board was down for quite awhile and this needs to be mentioned.
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/investigators-probe-arizona-sweat-lodge-deaths/story?id=8805230The link is a story about the people who died in a sweatlodge in Arizona. People should always beware of these "New Age Gurus" that do these things.
A true sweat lodge is not a 50 thousand dollar thing for a bunch of Oprah loving idiots. In fact, one never should pay money to enter a sweatlodge. If anyone talks about money, IT IS FAKE!!!! RUN!!!, In fact find your local AIM chapter and report it
The Sweatlodge is a sacred ceremony of the American Indians. It should never be used as a profit making New Age game. It should only be done by someone that actually knows what they are doing.
When desiring to partake in a Sweatlodge, one should know that the one putting on the lodge is legitamate. Sometimes you will be turned down...One has to be prepared for the sweatlodge and A true lodge keeper will know if you are ready. Do not be upset if you are turned away. Just try to find what is required to prepare. It may even be years before you are let in. Be patient, It is worth it.
Done incorrectly, A sweatlodge can be a dangerous thing as we saw in Arizona. A knowledgeable Lodgekeeper will know these things. Know about the person putting on the lodge.
Sweatlodges are paid for by offerings of tobacco to the keeper. It is not about paying money. Do not let people like the man in Arizona fool you. He was a fake and the death of these people are on his hands.
Remember. This is a very sacred Indian ritual, It should never be done because you want to experience, Be prepared and listen to people that know what is going on. When done correctly. It can be a great, even life changing thing. Just be warned, Many "New Age Gurus" are trying to take your money. They know nothing about the sacred ritual.
